Random Sources Of Inspiration: Saint Seiya Knights Of The Zodiac

After I saw the first picture I immediately became SOOO inspired. Oh MAN! The Knights of The Zodiac or Saint Seiya as its known everywhere else in the world, has always been a big part of my life. Just mostly when I was younger when my cousin and I were closer, when I would be in Mexico more. Seeing that picture man.... its honestly so beautiful to me, it makes me so happy. Its like seeing the real life Gundam for the first time, but like, this is so much more fashion forward. It reminds me of that Givenchy Haute Couture with all of the gold and stuff. 

And this runway show was widely praised as being genius and amazing. Not saying its not but further proves that style and fashion genius exists within Cartoons and animation. I just wish it was as possible to make as I want it to be lol But one day! I'm taking things slowly and steadily and one day I will be able to create all the things that go around in my mind.

Soul Eater

Its such an amazing show. Like so good.... the fashion and style in it is awesome! Like so gooood! The sneakers, the screws as cufflinks, the tie in the shape of an upside down cross?! Some of that stuff ADEEN will be bringing to life. Swag

How awesome was that!? Im already on episode 13 since last night haha!

Ok Ok Ok So!

I was watching this video of yeah yeah yeah you know who lol and I totally came to the conclusion that... he should be photographed to look like Benimaru of King Of Fighters! And also King from King of Fighters. I dunno mayyybbeee its just me! Maybe! But like... both very androgynous cartoon characters! But maybe its just cuz I love cartoons so much, but I think itd be awesome man. Look.

This is the video I was watching btw. Kinda looked like a cartoon so thats why it made me think of it.

Style Innovators: Cartoons

But Duh, If youve ever read ADEEN you know Cartoons are my biggest inspiration style wise and I think they have the best style. 

Now im not saying I would dress like all of them, but there is some aspect about every one of these characters that I would most certainly take and adapt to my wardrobe if I had the pieces to do so haha

DragonBall

Another example of how music choice can make something more memorable for the viewer in my personal experience has GOT to be Dragonball in spanish. The attention to the music in comparison to the American version is like.... wayyyyy better! The song choice is so much better and way less corny. See for your self.

See i know it isnt fair because the translation difference and it doest sound as cool in english as it does translated to spanish from Japanese. Now that may be because of Japanese pronounciation is similar to that of Spanish BUT! Then just keep it the original japanese opening credits! It gives the cartoon or video that much better of a feel in my opinion. Its so important to leave a good impression to the viewer.

The Goofy Movie

Okay So i've heard a whole lot of talk about Hey Arnold and Catdog and all of those Nickelodean shows and stuff, but they honestly were no match for Goof Troop and Darkwing Duck and Talespin and all the Disney cartoons man. No way were they better. The best example for this is the damn Goofy Movie yo. It was soooooo gooooooddd!!!! Haha heres the best part of the movie here.

Cartoons are the beessstttt yo! haha Shows how important a soundtrack is when it comes to anything! It can make a movie, a cartoon, a fashion show, a video anything that much more memorable to the viewer as well! Remember that. 

Nostalgic Cartoons Brah!

Oh MAN! Beyblade, change my whole LIFE b. The whole entirity of my life was changed because of this show smh lol I loved it so much. I went to the tournament and EVERYTHING man. I still have my old Beyblade.... Who wanna beybattle tho????

Oh man effin Medabots b!?! OH BOY! I wish Medabots were real.... like its crazy son. Its crazy I had my whole medabot designed for Y E A R S now. That live action movie would be so good too!!! If it were like a PG 13 movie for the people who grew up on it. That would be amazing man smh

Ok so theese are really the greatest ever. I would wake up for high school and middle school and watch these every morning. The theme songs are forever in my head. It really makes me smile so hard, Im so happy right now :) 

The Best Anime Songs!

You don't know how many memories these bring back.... Its crazy, these are actually really good songs too lol I've had a few on my iPod over the years. 

King Kazma Vs. Love Machine

One of the greatest fights EVER man, SO great! So intricate but so short. But the way they made the actions and punches so fluid it mustve taken them forever to get that done. My favorite movie tied with the Digimon movie man! Hope you guys see the inspiration from this.

My new roommate: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit

Even though I work on the Disney Studios lot, I had to go to eBay to get my hands on this lovely plush Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. If you haven't seen the old Ub Iwerks/Walt Disney Oswald cartoons of the 1920's you're in for a treat!

...and I've also fallen in love with the Oswalds that were done by Walter Lantz and Bill Nolan:

Ghettomation Guru Jim Lujan

Heroes don't take vacations. Crime does not nap.
Apparently, neither does indy animator Jim Lujan!



Jim Lujan is making some of the best indy animation around; he calls it Ghettomation. No fancy stuff. Just good stories, compelling characters and awesome funked-out art.

Jim Lujan is a one-man animation studio -- he writes, draws, animates, does all voices and music too! And he just keeps going and going. Jim's been making cartoons for years...sometimes there's a new one every six weeks or so!

See how happy they make me?

As you can see in this cartoon, Hittin' Switchez," Jim has a marvelous way of capturing the bleak suburban strip-mall culture of southern California. A totally unique take on the weirdness of the real world...

Bill Nolan’s Oswald Cartoons!

I really love the old silent Disney "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit" cartoons! The story about how Disney lost his first creation is heartbreaking, and the story about how Disney got Oswald back after 80 years is miraculous and hilarious. 

But this isn't about the Disney Oswalds. Let's take a look at the Oswald cartoons made by Walter Lantz and Bill Nolan.

I had no interest at all in seeing the Walter Lantz Oswalds... until I found out that they featured the amazing work of one of the greatest animation pioneers ever: Bill Nolan.



Bill Nolan is one of the hugest unsung heroes and animation -- is often credited with creating the rubber hose style of cartoons.

It was Bill Nolan that helped Otto Mesmer refined Felix the Cat into the bouncy, round, cartoony character that he became in the mid-20s.
Bill Nolan basically helped Otto Mesmer create the classic old-school animation style.

Here are some of the cartoons that I fell in love with at the ASIFA Hollywood Animation Archive. If you're not already aware, the famous animation archive is located in Burbank, and you can walk right in and watch enough classic cartoons to keep you busy between now and the next ice age.

My Latest DVD purchase…

Roger Ramjet – Hero of our Nation! I rented some of these cartoons about a year ago. Lots of fun! I remember being amazed at the pure appeal of the character designs, and the amazing economy of the animation. I mean…if anything moved, it happened OFF-SCREEN! And it worked ^_^

Hopefully the DVD will arrive soon, and I’ll report back with all the juicy details.

The “secret project” I’ve been a part of for the last year has finally be unveiled! The series is “Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil,” created by Sandro Corsaro with Chris Savino as show runner and guiding light. There are a bunch of great storyboard artists on this show, with most of those board artists writing and drawing. Great stuff by great artists!

It’s a really fun show, with more cartoony action than I’ve ever had the pleasure to work on before.
